I'm going to kick this blog off with a big, fat disclaimer to any and all potential readers. Before I begin spouting off my daily ramblings about collegiate life as a mother, I feel it appropriate to let you all know a few important things about me. So here it goes:
1. I am not a professional writer. I'm not even an enthusiast writer. I can guarantee that there will be mistakes in grammar and/or punctuation. My goal isn't to impress readers with big words and clever phrasing and I'm certain that I have pretty mediocre linguistic ability. My life is busy and imperfect and this blog will be a reflection of that fact. If that doesn't bother you, keep reading.
2. I have some emotional baggage going into this new phase of my life and there will be times that I'll write about heavy topics. Getting to this pivotal moment in my life has not come without cause and, unfortunately, the most powerful motivations in life tend to be ones of great sadness and even from tragedy. If you aren't too freaked out, keep reading.
3. Finally, I support open communication as the only way for real progress and change. I have strong convictions about certain issues and I've never been one to hide or to sugar-coat them, no matter how taboo or uncomfortable. At the very core of my being, I value life-time learning and progress, as such, I don't believe in censorship. If you can appreciate raw honesty, keep reading.
That sums up my initial warnings. I don't promise overall blog excellence but I do promise things will be authentic around here and I hope that, in sharing my experiences, I can inspire and help others in their journey.
